from the editor
It’s the most wonderful time of the year... well, it is nearly. Like it or loathe it, we are well into the festive preamble (what number tin of Quality Street are you on? I count three...). It’s time to get serious about your festive salutations and batten down the hatches - the guests will be here before you can say ‘figgy pudding’!
This issue aims to highlight the best of the festive season, with a packed events guide and lots of home advice to make sure your abode is ready for the hordes of seasonal well-wishers and guests - after all, it’s a little late to be thinking about redecoration come December!
Talking of puddings, I’ve been extra selfish this issue and curated a section especially for the Christmas pariahs among us - those that hate festive puddings! Try as I might, I can’t stand Christmas Pudding, Cake, mince pies - anything with the spiced fruits combo - I’m out.
I reckon I’m not alone (though perhaps you’ve not outed yourself yet, just pretending you’re full up when a bowl is proffered in your direction), so for my fellow outcasts, please enjoy a bumper batch of celebratory puds which are perfect for the big day, without a sultana in sight. The food doesn’t stop there - we’ve got an interview from the fantastic Michelin starred chef Paul Ainsworth, based in Padstow.
That’s all for now - we will see you again in January, when we will be recovering from post Christmas food comas and making plans for the happiest, healthiest and most productive 2020. In the meantime, pass the Quality Street please.
